In a startling development, a leopard was sighted crossing a flyover near the toll plaza in Electronic City, Bengaluru, at approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday. CCTV footage from the Phase 1 toll plaza captured the animal moving from the Panak India Company area towards the Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) grounds, sparking immediate concern among local authorities.
The Bengaluru Leopard Task Force has swiftly ramped up its search operations in the area. Public announcements are being made near the toll gates in Electronic City, urging residents and commuters to remain vigilant. Citizens are advised to report any suspicious sightings or unusual activities to the authorities without delay.
Officials suspect that the leopard might be the same one previously spotted in the BRS layout of Jigani, a locality close to the Bannerghatta forest. This proximity raises the possibility that the animal may have wandered into the city from the forested area.
Leopard sightings in Bengaluru are not uncommon. Just months ago, a leopard was seen near a house in the Chikka Togur area, and in November last year, forest department officials tracked another near Kudlu Gate, also in Electronic City. Despite efforts to tranquilize and capture the animal, authorities were ultimately forced to take lethal action when the situation escalated.
The task force is working diligently to avoid any escalation in the current situation, and residents are urged to cooperate with the authorities for their safety.
